So I have to admit this – and I’m sure I’m not the only one – but ever since my wife and I had Munchkin, we really haven’t had too much quality alone time. That’s why last night we were so lucky to be able to get out of the house and enjoy dinner at a nice restaurant in the next town over.
Unfortunately our normal babysitter wasn’t available, so we hopped on over to www.care.com to find an alternate. We ended up finding a lovely local highschool student and we will definitely be using her again!
The restaurant we went to was one that we’ve been to before, and both really enjoy. It’s the type of place where you’re hesitant to order something different off the menu because you know how good your go-to meal is, even though everything else is just as delicious.
We started off the meal with a nice meat + cheese plate (sorry for the poor lighting – I didn’t want to embarrass the missus while out in public with an obnoxious flash!), but surprisingly my favorite part of the plate was the honeycomb! It was so decadent and sweet and it would almost just melt in your mouth, YUM 🙂
Normally I would have ordered a glass of wine to go with the cheese plate, but we had already had a glass back at the house before we left, and now with it being October, I went with an Ace Pumpkin Cider. Unfortunately no picture of the beer, but it was really good; sweet & spicy, just as it should be. Ace actually makes another cider – a pineapple cider – and it too is really delicious. I highly recommend checking either of them out whenever the opportunity presents itself.
So remember just before how I said sometimes I’m hesitant to order something different off the menu? Well, I got the short rib…again….and so did my wife….again lol.
The meat was so tender and delicious; it really was a great meal. I’m not sure when the next time we’ll be able to spend some time like this together again, but we both enjoyed ourselves last night on our (well deserved) night out.
